SB 7044 Compliance with Clean Catalog's Syllabus Management Software

October 15, 2022

SB 7044 is a law in the state of Florida that, among other things, requires that undergraduate course syllabi be publicly accessible. Clean Catalog's syllabus management software can help your college or university comply with this law by moving your syllabi to an easy-to-navigate public repository that also gives you tools to manage and update your syllabi.

Not in Florida? This doesn't apply

But Clean Catalog can still help with your compliance and accreditation — read more here.

What SB 7044 Requires

The full text of the bill is available here. Obviously, you'll want to consult your legal/compliance team for a full reading, but the main points are:

  • Most higher-ed institutions in Florida need to provide public internet access for 95% of syllabi
  • Syllabi need to include ISBN numbers for required textbooks, along with textbook details.
  • Syllabi need to be posted 45 days before the start of each term, be online for five years, and be searchable by a variety of criteria
  • Syllabi must be public and easily downloadable
  • For most core courses, syllabi need to include the curriculum, goals, objectives, student expectations, and performance measurements
