New Feature —  Elective Group Administrative Titles

At Clean Catalog, we’re always working to better our software for our clients. We’re always releasing new features and updates based on client feedback, ensuring our platform evolves to meet the needs of institutions that are using our software every day. Our latest update, Elective Group Administrative Titles, is a new feature designed to enhance the organization and usability of elective groups within degree programs or pathways.

What Are Elective Groups?

Elective groups, or course groups, are a catalog-management tool that allow you to create groups of courses and then reuse them on multiple degrees or pathways. You can read all about them here.

Keep Internal Details Organized

The Administrative Title is a new field available for elective groups that allows administrators to include internal notes or details about the elective group. This information is visible when adding elective groups to degrees, displaying in brackets after the elective group title. This ensures that administrators have the necessary context to make informed decisions about elective group selection without cluttering the student-facing catalog. Whether it’s indicating course availability, prerequisites, or other internal classifications, this field keeps everything structured behind the scenes.

Enhanced Search Capabilities

With this update, the Administrative Title is also a searchable field within the elective group selection process. Administrators can now use this field as a search query in the autocomplete function, making it easier than ever to find and assign the right elective groups within degree pathways. This feature is especially useful for institutions managing large course catalogs, ensuring elective groups are assigned accurately and efficiently while reducing the risk of errors.

Available for New and Existing Sites

The Administrative Title field is available by default on all Clean Catalog sites created after December 10, 2024. For pre-existing catalog sites, this feature can be added on an as-needed basis.
