Case Study – Neosho School District

A flexible course catalog solution for a school district

When Neosho School District decided to transition its Program of Studies to a digital platform, the goal was not simply to replace a static document. The district wanted a more flexible system that could improve accessibility, streamline updates, and create a better experience for students, parents, and administrators navigating course information across multiple grade levels. By implementing Clean Catalog software, Neosho transformed its Program of Studies into a centralized, easy-to-manage digital resource, bringing together PK-6, Junior High, and High School information in one cohesive publication.

The Challenges

Prior to adopting Clean Catalog, Neosho didn’t use a software platform for its Program of Studies, but instead published content as a PDF document. Editing content required significant manual effort from their staff, and they struggled to ensure stakeholders had access to the most up-to-date information. Twyla Evans, an operations executive at Neosho, explained that the district struggled with “clarity of changes, managing updates, [and] clear communications.”

Beyond maintenance challenges, the structure of the Program of Studies itself presented opportunities for improvement. The district wanted a system that could better organize information for different grade levels while still allowing users to easily navigate between them. Neosho saw the transition to a digital catalog as a chance to rethink the structure of its content. Rather than simply replicating their existing Program of Studies PDF to an online format, the district took the opportunity to evaluate which information truly belonged in the catalog and how it could be presented more effectively.

The Process

The migration to Clean Catalog became both a technology upgrade and a strategic redesign of Neosha’s Program of Studies. With the help of the Clean Catalog team, Neosho consolidated its PK-6, Junior High, and High School catalog information into a single website. This structure allows users to navigate easily between the Junior High and High School course search pages when exploring course options across grade levels.

During implementation, the district also reorganized its content to create a clearer experience for students and families. By transitioning from a static document to a digital platform, Neosho was able to restructure sections, simplify navigation, and determine which information should live directly within the catalog versus other district resources. From an administrative perspective, the transition proved smoother than expected. Evans recalls the implementation process being “very easy,” with the Clean Catalog team migrating all existing content and the Neosho team simply providing feedback along the way.

Our Solutions

Clean Catalog’s flexible software allowed Neosho to introduce several new features and structures that were not possible within its previous PDF catalog. One major addition was the creation of Graduation Pathways, which did not exist in the district’s previous Program of Studies. Using information from an existing spreadsheet, the Clean Catalog team developed a structured layout that presents these pathways in a clear, easy-to-follow format for students planning their academic progress. Students can now search different graduation pathways and click into each option to view a four-year graduation timeline and career outlook information.

The district also implemented Course Pathways, built using Clean Catalog’s degree page functionality. These pathways allow students to see recommended course sequences while selecting the grade level at which each course should be taken to follow a particular track. To make the information easier to access, the Course Pathways are grouped by subject area within the downloadable PDF version of the catalog. This approach allows students to explore the catalog online while still providing a printable version for those who prefer a traditional document format.

Clean Catalog also allowed Neosho to customize the design and organization of its catalog to match the district’s branding. Evans noted that the district appreciated the flexibility of the platform, explaining that “we were able to include all the information we needed and customize the look and feel of our catalog to what best fits our needs.” The platform’s administrative interface has also significantly improved day-to-day management. According to Evans, the system is “extremely easy to use”, adding that “it’s made editing so much easier.”

Looking Forward

With its new digital Program of Studies in place, Neosho School District now has a more accessible and modern resource for communicating academic information. The centralized catalog allows the district to manage updates more efficiently while giving students and families a clearer view of course options and academic pathways across grade levels. Features like Graduation Pathways and Course Pathways provide additional guidance to help students plan their academic journeys with confidence. By rethinking the structure of its Program of Studies and adopting a modern catalog platform, Neosho School District has created a system that is easier to maintain today and more adaptable for the future.
