New Feature — TOC Indentation
January 6, 2026
We are excited to introduce TOC Page Indentation, a small but needed Clean Catalog feature that makes your Table of Contents easier to scan and navigate. By adding visual hierarchy, this update helps users quickly see how pages connect and where to find the information they need. It is a small change that brings a noticeable improvement to how catalogs and handbooks are organized and navigated.

Clear Hierarchies
With this update, TOC pages within a catalog or handbook can now be indented, making it easy to visually group related pages together under a main heading, while still keeping each one its own clickable link. This helps signal which policies, sections, or resources belong together without forcing everything onto a single page. The result is a table of contents that feels more parsable and intuitive, with supporting content easy to find.
Improved Navigation
Indentation makes long lists of policies easier to parse. Readers can scan the table of contents and quickly see which pages are related, which sections function as broader categories, and where to find specific details. This leads to better organization, faster navigation, and less time spent backtracking. Because indented pages remain individual links, institutions do not have to choose between clear structure and ease of use. Clean Catalog makes it possible to have both.
Designed for Real Client Needs
This feature was built in response to feedback from Northwest Nazarene University, whose staff wanted to visually group related pages while keeping each page distinct in the table of contents. On their catalog homepage, under the “Academic Perspectives” section, you will see “Credits for Prior Learning” with related pages indented beneath it. This layout clearly shows that the pages are part of the same topic while keeping each one easy to access on its own.
TOC Page Indentation is another example of how Clean Catalog evolves alongside the institutions it serves. By reacting to client needs and refining the details that shape the user experience, we help schools present complex information in a way that feels clear and accessible. As catalogs and handbooks continue to grow, features like this help ensure they remain easy to navigate, easy to understand, and easy to maintain. Thoughtful organization is built into every page with Clean Catalog software.
